Why I Let Clients Choose More Photos | A Lesson from the Other Side of the Lens
Before I ever picked up a camera professionally, I was on the other side, hiring a photographer to capture a special moment for my wife and me. We were a young couple, just starting our family and barely finding our footing. The photographer we hired did great work. The photos were beautiful. But there was one big issue: we could only choose ten. Ten photos. When you’re looking through a gallery filled with memories—laughter, small gestures, genuine moments—it’s nearly impossible to narrow it down to just ten. We wanted more, like most people would. But extra images came with a fee, and at that stage in our lives, we simply couldn’t afford it. We had to settle for what we could get. And while we were grateful, that feeling stuck with me. I hated how limited it felt. I hated having to make painful choices about what memories we could afford to keep. That experience is one of the reasons I do things differently. When clients book a portrait session with me—whether it’s maternity, family, or branding—they get to select up to 30 edited photos before any additional fees apply. That way, you’re not left choosing between your favorite smiles or deciding which kid gets framed. Photography isn’t just a product—it’s a way of preserving chapters of your life. I want you to walk away from your session not just happy with the images, but truly satisfied with the experience. Because I’ve been where you are, and I know how much that matters.
